Rhode Island Bulldogs Player Code of Conduct
We respectfully reserve the right to dismiss any player from the program due to a code of conduct violation.
Respectful
- Players will always show respect to coaches, teammates, referees and opponents at all times, no matter the circumstances. How we play is critical, but how we carry ourselves is of the highest importance in our program.
Punctual
- Players will be expected to be at every practice, dressed and ready to go, at least 15 minutes before their practice begins. The only way for the team to improve is for everyone to be there for the full practice time, every time.
Competitive
- Players are expected to be at practice to learn and compete. This requires all players to be attentive and give 100% effort when they are on the field. We are not at practice to socialize or go through the motions. Every minute counts.
Dedicated
- Players are expected to improve their skills away from the practice field on their own time. Whether that be athletically or within the skills of lacrosse, players should take it upon themselves to improve their games in some capacity off the field.
- We have partnered with Crease Pro.Ai, an app that can track players who are improving their skills away from the practice field. Coaches and administrators will have access to the team’s database to view each player’s progress throughout the year.
Communicative
- Players are expected to understand that we are a competitive program and not everyone will see the same amount of playing time. We aim to form two teams per age group with a capped roster size to maximize player development and playing time per team at the correct playing level. If you want to know why you’re placed on a certain team, please ask your coach or a director and they will be happy to give you tips to improve. Players should be proactive in their understanding of what needs to improve in order to see the field more.
*All players are subject to be moved up or down from teams in the interest of placing players in the best situation for them to grow and succeed.
Rhode Island Bulldogs Parent Code of Conduct
We respectfully reserve the right to dismiss any player from the program due to a code of conduct violation and/or parent in violation of the code of conduct.
Respectful
- Parents will always be respectful to coaches, players, referees, and opponents no matter the circumstances. We hold the players to this standard, we expect parents and/or friends of the program to carry themselves in the same light.
Punctual
- While we understand that conflicts arise, we ask that you make it a priority to get your kids to every practice on time. Missing practices not only can affect your child’s playing time, but also inhibit their ability to improve and grow as a player.
Supportive
- Parents are expected to support their children as well as other players on the team. Under no circumstances should a parent ever be diminishing any other player on the team. While the players wear the jerseys, everyone including the parents are all on the same team. Be a good teammate!
Sideline Conduct
- We understand parents want to see their children succeed and will voice their opinions from the sidelines from time to time. However, more often than not, the messages that the players get from parents are not the same messages they receive from coaches. We ask that you trust the coaches to be the main voices from the sidelines to avoid confusing the players.
- We ask that if you have any issues or suggestions that they be voiced through the proper channel, (email moc.s1734191498godll1734191498ubir@1734191498ydoc1734191498 or message your team’s coach through the LeagueApps chat), instead of from the sideline during competitive play.
Playing Time/Team Movement
- We are a competitive program. Our goal is to give every team the best opportunity to win games. Not every player will always see the same amount of playing time. Playing time is earned, not guaranteed. With that, we do our best to place every player on the team that gives them the best opportunity to play and succeed. We will be the first to admit that sometimes we make mistakes and some players should be on different teams. Throughout the season, we reserve the right to move players up or down from teams based on where they have the best opportunity to see the field and develop.
- If a player has questions as to why they are on a certain team, we ask that they be the ones to ask a coach or reach out to moc.s1734191498godll1734191498ubir@1734191498ydoc1734191498 to see what they can do to improve. We find it more beneficial for the players to hear it directly from a coach/director as opposed to hearing it from their parents.
Complaints/Recommendations
- While we trust that our program is being run with the players’ best interests in mind, we do understand that naturally mistakes happen. We are open to improving and hearing parent recommendations and/or complaints about our program, however we ask that it be done through the proper channels. If there is ever a complaint or recommendation, please email moc.s1734191498godll1734191498ubir@1734191498ydoc1734191498 to get clarification.
- When considering a complaint, we ask that you give it 24 hours from the time it happened. Oftentimes, after a day has passed, the issue either works itself out or there can be more clarity from both parties. If there is still a complaint after 24 hours, please direct it to moc.s1734191498godll1734191498ubir@1734191498ydoc1734191498 and we will work to provide clarification and/or get the issue resolved in the proper manner.
- Complaints should never be directed towards a coach after a game has concluded. We understand not everyone will always agree with every decision that is made throughout the course of a game, but we trust in all of our coaches to make decisions acting in accordance with our code of conduct and the competitiveness of the team/program. Addressing these issues right after a game is never the answer, and we once again ask that you email these complaints to moc.s1734191498godll1734191498ubir@1734191498ydoc1734191498.
